2015 – Boyd K. Packer, American religious leader and educator (b. 1924)

Boyd K. Packer’s journey was anything but ordinary. Born in the quiet town of Brigham City, Utah, in 1924, he was raised amidst the stark beauty of the mountains and canyons that would later become significant symbols in his teachings. In 1954, just a few short years after beginning his career in education, he received an invitation to join the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles a governing body within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints renowned for its spiritual significance and influence.

His rise within church ranks came with its own challenges; some questioned his authority due to a lack of traditional ecclesiastical training compared to other leaders who had spent years in church hierarchy positions. Yet Packer stood firm on principles grounded deeply within him the importance of personal revelation over institutional dogma became a hallmark feature throughout both his teachings and leadership style.
